On my second refresh I got AdThwart in the popular links, as you can plainly see:

I personally don’t mind that they are rotating the popular extensions… if an extensions is so popular probably means that probably I already have it and it wouldn’t hurt to show me some other relatively popular extensions.

Another question is why it defaulted to the French version of the web-site???

Another issue though is that the existing adblockers for Chrome are not very good. I tried them one by one and I wasn’t impressed. For example AdThwart blocks Youtube videos… AdBlock (my ultimate choice) works fine but it doesn’t really block ads – it just hides them (so you still waste time and bandwidth loading them), etc.

Well personally I don’t mind. The more people do NOT block ads, the better for those who do. Advertisers keep on paying for the websites we visit and seldom use tricks meant to bypass adblockers. Also as long as Chromium is open source, Google cannot just go ahead and simply disable adblocking in the browser. And if they do, I won’t use Chromium anymore and that’s it.
